Your Say

Looking at the picture, I suddenly realized that there are many uses for a Cricket bat.

Of course this pic is in B&W.

It's an artifact of a time when people could still be shocked.

I still don't understand why this scene didn't make the final cut of Brokeback Mountain.

The picture is staged, yet no less illustrative for it. It does indeed show how we live now, and it inspires speculation about how we shall live in the future. It makes me think the Taxed Enough Already movement (sorry, it's not a political party until we start getting ballots with candidates with a (T) after their name) will ultimately start gaining power. Because we don't ultimately pay taxes with fiat money or accounting notations; taxes are paid with tired muscles, strained eyes, sore joints, and sweat. Ours, our parents, or our children's. And we only have so much of those things to contribute, and decent people wouldn't obligate their children like that.

The money's run out. We aren't really feeling it yet, because of some might fast tap dancing, but the money has run out. This country is either going to inflate the currency big time, or repudiate debt. Some day, within our lifetimes, communities and states will have to choose between paying for midnight basketball, or ambulance service. Poetry grants, or municipal water supplies. Hate crime prosecutions, or keeping patrol officers rolling on the streets.

It will come, this trimming of the Progressive Left wishlist, swollen now to absurd proportions. People might start spontaneously self-organizing street art exhibits of homosexuals' teeth on the sidewalk. A rough and ready sort of libertarianism, impossible to bring about through elections, but a people unchained by government might do wonders.

Libertarianism through the back door, so to speak.

Wishful thinking, eh Mike? Let's see, we have black thugs roaming the cities and randomly attacking white people while you fantasize about open season on homosexuals.

See what your red meat pandering brings out, Gerard. One could almost believe you want to expose the right rather than support it.
