"Did somebody say de-escalation?"

Ukraine's Military Mobilizes, Prepares For Combat: Trucks, APCs, SAMs, Tanks Rolling Out. At the same time along the makeshift border between Crimea and the mainland, the Pro-Russian forces are putting down minefields.

Everything that is happening was planned from the beginning so it isn't correct to say this is an escalation. You are watching a pretty slick invasion by a fox from old Russia. Pay attention I think we will be seeing this a few more times in the next few years. First you send in your crack military in civilian clothes, then you enlist the local mob to make it look like it is a homegrown revolution and all the while you keep moving your military assets like chessmen positioning them around the board for the final checkmate. Not a shot fired in anger yet and Putin has full control. Now comes the purge. Everyone who participated in kicking out the old government and who allowed their identity to be known will be killed but not before they are convinced to give up others. If I lived in the Ukraine I would already be in another country.

Remember back during the Clinton years when politicians began and ended every sentence about massive govt spending with the phrase "within in the context of the balanced budget"?

Within the context of peaceful coexistence with Russia and Ukraine, Putin has ordered his military to invade and occupy the rebel province.

I think a lot of folks wish our poofter was half the man Putin is. Putin may be wrong but as yet it is of no concern to us. Just a domestic quarrel which we should stay out of, just like we should stay out of Mideast conflicts.

When asked by a Crusader leader - at the siege of Béziers, France in 1209 - how to distinguish Cathars from Catholics, Arnaul Amalric replied:

Caedite eos. Novit enim Dominus qui sunt eius."

Kill them all. For the Lord knoweth them that are His.

Or even better, let them all kill each other. You think whatever happens to the Ukes is gonna affect us? Total global nuclear meltdown?
