The Bright Are Too White

Another jewel of degradation gleaming in the wan light of witlessness:
A school (should I say “school”?) in Brooklyn, more than two-thirds of whose students are black or Hispanic, has abolished its (I mean “it’s”) advanced courses for the intelligent. Why this salubrious excision? Why, because too many of the students therein are white. That is, classes for the intelligent contain the intelligent. My god. This cancer must be corrected lest it spread. Fred Reed -- The Soul of a Curmudgeon

Your Say

No, liberalism isn't about raising people up it is about bring others down. The lowest common denominator is the goal for everyone.

I thought they fixed this years ago with the "gifted" programs. They began labeling everyone of color and poor academic ability as "gifted" so they could spend more money and hire more teachers to devote to the "gifted" children. Why not have both programs; advanced studies for those students who could do the work withut regard to race or gender and the "gifted" program for everyone else? They could even have little year end ceremonies where they handed out little "gifted" trophies to make them all feel "equal".

This will end with the argument that the successful must be not allowed to participate, or even physically eliminated, as those who can excel will excel, and no amount of PC thinking will be able to deny that. Such success cannot be allowed, and the keepers of the PC flame know denial is not as good a solution as a final solution. This will not end well.

Quote of the Day, from that article:

"Reality is what the greater number say it is."

Welcome to the new Babel.

2nd Quote of the Day, by me:

"Leave no child behind means let no child move ahead."

I agree with Picturerock, that this bodes ill. What we're watching is the end result of politicizing envy.

Envy is after all the motivation of Satan himself, who tempted Eve (and every Socialist since) with the prospect of becoming God rather than acknowledging His existence. Every smart kid of my generation who wasn't well off remembers the broken nose awarded for being brighter than average.

when you strive to please others, you will please very few. Better you strive to please yourself; know you did your very best and look to improve upon your endeavors.

In this case, the object of "striving to please others" is to keep major urban areas from going up in flames. Better to keep the slow yet violent, from thinking about the hand dealt them by natural selection. Or an inscrutable, careless universe. Or God.

Pity about the bright kids.
