President John Tyler's grandsons are still alive!!

John Tyler was the 10th President of the United States.
He was born in 1790 and took office in 1841. His son, Lyon Gardiner Tyler, was born in 1853, when Tyler was 63 years old1. Lyon had six children with two different wives2, two of whom were Lyon Gardiner Tyler, Jr. (born 1924 when Lyon Sr. was 71) and Harrison Ruffin Tyler (born 1928 when Lyon Sr. was 75). They are reportedly both still living in their 80s. -- Kottke

Your Say

I wish they would go to the White House and kick Obama's ass.

I'm 63 years old. At college I had an acquaintance from Connecticut, one year younger, whose grandfather was born in the 1790s.

My Mother's grandmother, whom I knew very well as a child, was born in 1854. She met Abraham Lincoln in 1864, during the presidential campaign. It was her Big Story.

The past isn't that far in the past, is it?

Wait until we find out they drink whiskey, smoke cigars and watch Playboy TV. Then the powers that be will disown them.

Lillian Carter (Jimmy's momma) lived to 85 and once told a TV reporter
that she drank a shot of bourbon whiskey every night at bed time.
Cheers, Miss Lily.

I have a photo on my wall, taken in 1951, of myself at two years old reaching out to Chief Dewey Beard, AKA Wasu Maza, or Iron Hail. He was born in 1857 and died in 1955. He was a young Minniconjou warrior who was a veteran of the Little Bighorn battle-Custer's last stand. In addition he was the last surviving ghost dancer at the Battle of Wounded Knee, a featured player in Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show, one of three models for the Indian on the Buffalo Nickel, and in his later years a close friend of General Nelson Miles.
I pass through history, Wasu Maza made history.
