Once Upon a Time Hating the Truth was not something a Christian nation did.

In my youth, which perhaps is not so far past, her kind of talk was everywhere.
Everyone said one should defy the odds and defy the world to speak truthfully and think sanely. The whole idea of doublethink, political correctness, and self-imposed bafflegab was a matter of mockery: something done by lunatic Soviets in the East, or deliciously skewered by George Orwell in a brief novel of nightmarish gallows humor. Doublethink was not something Americans did. Hating the Truth was not something a Christian nation did. Those days are gone. -- Hoyt Defies the Empire of Lies | John C. Wright's Journal

Your Say

There are many fine folks that bridle at the word "Christian". OK, fine, but the values that word represents are what we should look at. A moral code, a sense of community, rules and guidelines for a society. Some responsibility to some kind of Higher Power so we in fact do not steal, kill, covet, cheat. That we do help our neighbors and those in our society that require assistance.

"People of Faith have a logical idea of what Life is all about."

Notice I said Faith, not necessarily Christianity. The Christian faith and the Bible are what I use for my moral compass. To each his own but the question boils down to: Good, or Evil?

Recently I found out that Paul was the author, in whole or part, of at least 17 books of the New Testament. Paul was born in the year 5 AD and there is verifiable historical reference to his existence. Speaking only of the New Testament, it is not the word of any god but of man and that man is Paul, not that there's anything wrong with that. If more people payed attention to the moral context of the bible rather the religious content the world would be a better place for all.

ghost: If more people paid attention to the moral context of the bible rather the religious content the world would be a better place for all. Yes indeed.

All a person needs for how to live a better life is in a bible. Can't say that about many other books.

The importation of a new electorate that values the "patron culture",and only wants a caretaker will think and spout whatever it takes to continue living only for today.

The old Western culture thinks about yesterday and tomorrow. ( Has that ship sailed ? )

The term "patron culture" fits very nicely with many who vote Democrat.
