Important Stuff

All this time he's been thinking their important stuff was more important than his important stuff.
Then he got to thinking that their reality is highly dependent on time. He noticed that their amazing, world-shaking events are trite and forgotten if they happened a few weeks ago. On the other hand, the same trivial things happening tomorrow will be shocking and momentous and fraught with game-changing consequences. Their important stuff doesn't seem to have any shelf-life. - - ol remus and the woodpile report

Your Say

A relative term to be sure. If a tree falls and knocks a hole in my roof, that's important. If some buncha guys in a country haffa world away kill another buncha guys, shrug.

I have a perimeter, flexible, where anything and anyone within get my attention and care. Anything outside the perimeter matters little. My town mayor is more important to me than the POTUS. My family gets my protection while a mile away some goofballs are whooping it up, the booze and fights and loud music, I really don't give a shit if they live or die or set each other on fire. Now, if they encroach upon my space, then I care.

Not Pollyanna, maybe laissez-faire on a more personal level. Yeah, that sounds valid.

What, do I think I'll save the world if I collect my pop cans and plastic bags? Nope, most I expect is I'll keep my yard clean.
