As P.J. O'Rourke wrote over 20 years ago,
"Cuban cigars are rationed in Havana, you can't get good Chinese takeout in Beijing, and that tells you all you need to know about socialism". Maybe it was Reagan or Milton Friedman: If you put the govt in charge of the Sahara Desert there would be a sand shortage before you know it.
