They have a dream telling them they can build a Utopia, and by God, if they have to kill every living human they will build that damn Utopia.
First they immunize themselves from experience and consequences, then they begin planning and destroying. This has been their idea for at least 200 years. The monsters of The Enlightment told them there is no evil, just people taught to do evil by faulty institutions. Therefore, if they have to destroy every institution and enslave every human BEFORE they begin their project to perfect they world, they will. when you expect or explain that the bad consequences of their efforts will slow or stop their plan, you just self-identify as one of the Rubes who chooses to pretend "they just don't know what they are doing."
Don't be a chump. Leftism is evil, at it's core. It appeals to people's evil desires of envy, revenge, and destruction. Your "nice" friend of relative is pretending they have never heard Leftism hurts people, even after 100 years and 100 million dead bodies. They are like Typhoid Mary. Whatever she was at the beginning of her career, at the end she knew the police were looking for her and that people that ate her food were dying. She kept moving on and finding others to eat her food. She didn't want to know, therefore she was guilty.
