I can't help wondering, if one were to take all of those individual chemical ingredients and mix them together in the same proportions, would the result bear any resemblance - not in form of course, but in taste or texture or scent - to a banana?

Looks like all those ingredients add up to more than 100%. Is the banana in fact greater than the sum of its parts?
