They Say That the Wasps Are Finished. Maybe We Are Just Being Discreet.

Joseph Palmi: Let me ask you something... we Italians, we got our families, and we got the church; the Irish, they have the homeland, Jews their tradition; even the blacks, they got their music. What about you people, Mr. Wilson, what do you have?

Edward Wilson: The United States of America. The rest of you are just visiting.

Your Say

Under WASP hegemony, corruption, scandal and incompetence in high places weren't, as now, regular features of public life. Under WASP rule, stability, solidity, gravity and a certain weight and aura of seriousness suffused public life.

Absolutely: let’s have less of that noblesse oblige and more Obamacare.

Phoey: Both W and our clown Secretary of state were skull and bones. It is the class and the institutions that are rotten. As for Yale. Apply the endowment to the national debt, and blow the buildings up.

Bush is a WASP, no doubt about it, but Kerry isn't. His grandfather was a jew named Fritz Kohn who took an Irish name and became Roman Catholic when he moved to Boston.

The Boston Irish aren't WASPs either, regardless of where they went to school. John Kennedy was well aware of it, and liked to use the daughters of WASP families as sex toys.

One problem with Harvard, Yale and Princeton is that they aren't run by and for WASPs anymore.

If your peeps arrived after 1776, you're not a real WASP.
