Don't know about that. Look at the ears on that guy. Note the nose. Best stay out of the shadows and carry a bit of garlic when he's around.

Save your bacon fat, render your chicken fat into schmaltz. I never use vegetable oil for cooking. I use coconut oil, olive oil, or bacon or chicken fat...especially for taters. Schmaltz also makes for some delicious masa.

My mother, who was born in a farmhouse and raised on a farm has sadly noted that lard isn't what it used to be. It is no longer sold in the refrigerated dairy section, it is sold with the other oils and is full of chemicals and preservatives. She wont use it.
