Which Goat Is Right for You?

a_boer.jpg

It's a good time to be a goat: Cities across the U.S. are relaxing regulations so urbanites can raise them.
But before you rush out to the goat store, know this: These mischievous animals are escape artists who like to climb. Can’t find your goat? Check on top of the minivan. - Modern Farmer

Your Say

Hadn't considered livestock but if I got goats I would name them

Azazel [ə-ˈzā-zəl] or Azazael or Azâzêl (Hebrew: עֲזָאזֵל)

I figure I might need them for the Days of Atonement soon to come.

Nasty Smelly Critters:

"In point of fact, the meteor was something like 30 km when it exploded. It was over north Waterloo and I was north of St Agatha. Two spherical clouds, and two explosions. Unfortunately, I was dealing with a goat that was trying to eat an oil truck's fuel line, goats having this optimistic 'Well, maybe it has become edible since they last time I tried this' worldview, and I missed seeing the explosions."

I recently ate some long awaited Humboldt Fog cheese made from goat's milk and found it disappointingly detestable.

Goat's eyes are trippy.

Goats are wonderful critters, they are very friendly, smart and affectionate. The males are stinky but the females aren't. Think of them as bigger dogs who won't bite or bark and can be used to clear weed patches.

One thing we do down in our humble little border town is have a fund raiser every winter called "Goats for Kids". Ranchers help by donating the livestock and local citizens sponsor the kids. They walk with them through the gathered herd and help them select a goat that fits them.

There are no children left behind and we have saved, oh gosh, maybe six or seven by now.

I hate goats milk, its nasty but some people love it. Supposedly you can eat goat too but I doubt its very tasty.
