Nobody Said Goodbye

aoswaldfuneral.jpg
"On a gloomy November afternoon, I helped carry the inexpensive wooden casket of Lee Harvey Oswald to a grave on a slight rise dotted with dying grass. With no mourners around to serve as pallbearers, it was a task that fell to me and a few other reporters covering the funeral of John F. Kennedy's assassin." - - Ex-AP writer recalls serving as Oswald pallbearer

Your Say

The KGB didn't have the decency to send someone?

You know...I'm embarrassed to admit that I never thought about what ever happened to Oswald's remains before now.

Daniel Day, why would they? Didn't you know the CIA sent Oswald to Russia.

He's buried a couple of miles from where I'm sitting right now. The grave is marked by a plain marble slab that just says OSWALD. The cemetery people won't tell you where the grave is, but the location is not hard to figure out.

A few years ago, some guy bought the plot next to Oswald, even though he wasn't in any danger of death himself. I have no idea why.

Fun fact: the day Lee Oswald was buried, nobody showed for his funeral except the reporters. Even the minister didn't come. His casket just sat there. Finally, the Fort Worth UPI and AP guys got together and picked up one end of the coffin, and the other reporters took up the middle and rear. Those reporters were Oswald's pallbearers. Eventually, Marina Oswald showed up with the kids. They finally found a local reverend who said a few words over the casket. They buried him and went away. His wife and kids still live around here, but nobody messes with them.

For the record: I think Lee Oswald was a patsy, and that JFK was killed on orders from other parties by a shot from in front of the car.

Oswald didn't kill Tippit, either.
