Your Say

Actually, the Nazis might never have found the Ark if it weren't for Indy. They were digging in the wrong place. He was the only one with the 2-sided medallion which gave complete directions to the correct location. They eventually caught sight of his dig and swept in and took the prize just as he was about to make off with it.

I thought the whole story was about Marion in the Tibetan bar.

As the note in the episode: " Howard tells the guys that it was Indiana Jones who dug in the right place after the Nazis were digging in the wrong place, Leonard corrects him that if Indiana didn't take the head piece, they would have dug in the right place and found it."

They wouldn't have found the ark without him as Mabuse said.

No. You needed the head piece to locate the Ark. Staff height is important but without the headpiece you get zip nada.

Indiana did not have the headpiece. Marion had it.

The Nazis came into the Tibetan bar of Marion, and were well on their way to grabbing the headpiece from her, giving her the good old fashioned gang rape and murder and then toddling off with the head piece to find the Ark.

Indiana enters saves Marion, and procures the headpiece, and takes it away from the Nazis, and uses it, with corrected staff, to find the location.

If Indiana had not been in the film, Marion would have been robbed of the headpiece and suffered a Nazified fate worse than death. The Nazis would have the head piece and would have found the Ark.

Nah...the pivotal moment was when Indy blows up the airplane. The Nasties were about to take it to Berlin on the plane; had Jones not been there, it would have been loaded up, taken to Templehoff, and opened in front of Hitler. The top command level of the Germans would have been obliterated, and it's possible WWII might not have even occurred.

All because Indiana Jones kept it off the plane.

But it was Lando Calrissian that sold Indy out to the side of evil.

Posted by: Potise at November 8, 2013 5:51 AM

No, without Indy, the Krauts would have it, and some of them would have died. Maybe history might have been changed.

Instead, because of Indy, the U.S. Government has it, where it is being carefully studied by Top Men. And history is as it was, the product solely of men's doings, with no magical devices to upset the order of things.

Thanks to Indiana Jones, Obama now controls the power of The Ark.. Thanks Indy..

You have built yourself a lovely time machine, here, Vanderleun, and all it does is turn everyone who enters it into teenaged AV club members.

Thank you, after the grim and idiotic stories I've had to read this week, this was very enjoyable.

In fact, the most fun comment thread in recent memory. The only thing I'm not clear on is...who shot first?

Yeah, an island full of dead nazis after reporting in doesn't keep it out of Nazi hands.
