It is worth noting that bears are not easy to kill. They get very mad when you shoot them. My hunch is that Mr. Whitehead was also world class sprinter.

Yikes. I don't think I have seen 99 bears in forty years of woods cruising.

It is also worth noting that bears can run faster than humans - say, 30 mph. My hunch is that Whitehead was a world-class marksman. I further hunch that having reached the ripe old age of 86, he was not killed by a bear.
