Air Traffic – Futility Closet In 1963, New York inventor Einar Einarsson quietly patented a flying car. The patent abstract is only two pages long.

Your Say

Gee, I wonder if maybe the US Patent Office has caused flying car developers to ask themselves "do I really want to engage in a long legal fight just to make this thing"?

Is THAT why we don't have flying cars?

Harumph. Actually we do have flying cars (search "flying car" at youtube), but not many and most seem to be in the prototype stage; probably by people who neglected to do a patent search before starting the project.

Ooh, Harumph. How often do you get to say that?
