"I’m really getting quite sick of this new American pastime"

where we troll business owners and force them to “have a position” on the divisive issues of the day,
then promptly punish them no matter what they say. Some businesses choose to wade into ideological waters, but many are pushed into it. It’s ridiculous. Why can’t coffee and chicken be apolitical? Why does everything have to be a controversy? I’m a liberal because I think Starbucks has private property rights | The Matt Walsh Blog

Your Say

I agree, even if I disagree with some business owner's position on something, who cares, its their business I interact with, not them. Its America. Feel free to believe what you want. Just have a good product and sell it at a fair price.

Why does everything have to be a controversy?

Because anybody who is obsessed with politics (a) sees everything that way (The Personal Is Political), and (b) is bound to be a Leftist.

There is no such thing as something that person does not wish to have control over, since her daily fear is well-nigh overwhelming.

That's why.

Like the company policies, shop there. I not don't!
Getting in a swivet about those decisions is a sign of mental decay.

So Starbucks can put a "Whites Only" sign on their private restroom? And we just get to do business with them or not. That's how it works, right? /s

If only the state felt the same way.

RKV - Yup. Although it would be more useful, in the UK at least, to do so with a sign saying "No Muslims."

Further to that, if I ever have a business again (which is unlikely) anyone who comes in wearing bank ID will be banned. Permanently.

RKV there's a big difference between banning certain people from using your facilities based on some arbitrary characteristic and simply holding an opinion on a topic you consider controversial. Surely you understand that, right?

Personally I don't care if Starbucks puts a "Mexicans only" sign on their restroom or whatever. If it annoys me enough, I won't go there. That's what freedom is all about.

But that's not the topic at hand.

Liberals are *for* private property rights?? Not in my town, where they dictate smoking bans on private properties.
