If you said to me, go and design a Diabetes store, I would just take you to the supermarket. The World Is Fucking Insane — Health & The Future — Medium

Your Say

Surely it's not my fault that I don't get enough exercise. It must be those evil companies that only think up ways to make me fat and get diabetes so their friends in Big Pharma can sell more glucophage.

Or, maybe it's just the market providing what the consumers want. Possibly.

Look: it's all up to you.

We can go on & on about the food pyramid hoax, cane syrup, the wrong "diabetic diet". It's still up to you to figure out what you need to do.

For 15+ years I've had to keep to a low-carb, no-added-sugar diet because of chronic hypoglycemia. i know exactly what foods to buy, which supermarket aisles to avoid, and it works.

For my purposes, the junk food doesn't exist.

Once you know what to do, it doesn't matter what anyone else is doing. It's all up to you.

Fausta is correct. Its a matter of informing yourself and not falling prey to advertising. Of course some people such as kids are not in a position to judge food and you have to worry about them.
Individually, you can control it.
For my purposes the junk doesn't exist either.

pbird,
I've been lucky with my son. At home I've always served him salad, fruit and vegetables as early as he could eat them, and he eats all.

What he has now he's away at college is another story, but when he's home on school break he doesn't guzzle the sweets.
