We are ostensibly “protected” and “served”

by a militarized police force that routinely kicks in our doors, shoots our dogs – and sometimes shoots us too –
when we’ve committed no crime whatsoever, and forces us to submit to unconstitutional searches at roadside checkpoints whether we’ve done anything wrong or not. Our soldiers are sent to ungodly shitholes ostensibly to vigorously and proactively defend us by killing our enemies and destroying the infrastructure they use to attack us, but in reality operate under absurd rules of engagement that basically amount to “no shooting, no fighting, play nice” and are tasked instead with building tottering, corrupt “democracies” in “nations” whose demonstrated incapacity for proper, humane self-governance are the reason we’re there in the first place. -- Let'€™s have a war » Cold Fury

And then when it goes to court, the prosecution breaks court rules, cheats, withholds evidence, and tries to strong arm you into surrendering no matter how weak their case is.

I've spent my life on the side of the cops and presuming their good will, and I've rarely been wrong when dealing with actual police but I'm very unnerved by the militarization of the cops lately.

I was talking to an active lieutenant colonel two weeks ago. He told me that he would not today encourage anyone to enlist in the US military.

This officer served in Afghanistan early and commanded a combat battalion in Iraq.

We've demonstrated to the gov't for decades that no matter what they do to us, we will take it. So they let us have it. What pressure does a Congressman or a bureaucrat face for stepping on our rights? Not much. Is that something to be proud of? What's our plan for changing that?

You play by their rules, you're playing their game with a predetermined outcome.

Scott its not entirely true that politicians face no punishment, its just that they don't matter. The ones like Reid or McCain who are eternally in office no matter what are the ones that matter, they have all the power and will never be replaced while alive.

Reid and McCain are elected over and over, not just traitors over and over. All the Soros money and TV commercials in the world can't make you vote for someone. No, voters have become fat and lazy. The only options they even consider are stay on autopilot, or something even less demanding of them.

Does anyone think voters in AZ, OH, SC, TN never heard their guy is selling the country down the river? Or they heard the charge and on the eve of legalizing twice as many illegal aliens as the number of people working in all areas of the federal gove't, the charge was disproved? No, the voters heard it, didn't bother to investigate, or just took their piece of federal bacon and watched the US circle the bowl. The RINOs are not an alien species, we elected and reelected them. Some because we believed their story they would fix things and others because they looked mild and moderate and never threatened to make us do anything, they would handle it.

Politicians fight very hard to get into office. They must think it is important. If one side fights like their lives depend on in and the other side fights like we are picking which vegetable to have with tonight's dinner the power goes to the motivated. You can't win if you don't fight. It's been so long since we fought it's not even an option anymore. Witness the instant appeal of a Ross Perot, Herman Cain, etc.. Next comes Ceaserism.

The voters are the ultimate authority and they exercise that authority after eternal vigilance and wise choices. Instead they want a TV or radio host to make the choice and let them know and then give them the reasons for supporting the choice. The every-other November citizens have done this to us all. They can keep track of 19 TV talent contests per season but politics, meh.
