There Are No Ordinary People; You Have Never Talked to a Mere Mortal

aahands.jpg
“It is a serious thing to live in a society of possible gods and goddesses to remember that the dullest and most uninteresting person you may talk to may one day be a creature which, if you saw it now, you would be strongly tempted to worship, or else a horror and corruption such as you now meet if at all only in a nightmare.
All day long we are in some degree helping each other to one or the other of these destinations. It is in light of these overwhelming possibilities it is with awe and the circumspection proper to them, that we should conduct all our dealings with one another, all friendships, all loves, all play, all politics. There are no ordinary people. You have never talked to a mere mortal. Nations, cultures, arts, civilizations – these are mortal, and their life is to ours as the life of a gnat. But it is immortals whom we joke with, work with, marry, snub, and exploit – immortal horrors or everlasting splendours. -- Living Among Immortals – C.S. Lewis - The Voice Blog

Your Say

Its a very good quote. CS Lewis is really quotable but that talk on Glory is incredibly so.

God calls warriors also.
Some are called to do battle and be prophets for their particular age.
What is the saying ? "you can rest, sleep because some brave men don't ?"

Gen 33:8 Esau said, "What do you mean by all this company which I met?"

Jacob answered, "To find favor in the sight of my lord."

[9]But Esau said, "I have enough, my brother; keep what you have for yourself."

[10] Jacob said, "No, I pray you, if I have found favor in your sight, then accept my present from my hand; for truly to see your face is like seeing the face of God, with such favor have you received me.

[11] Accept, I pray you, my gift that is brought to you, because God has dealt graciously with me, and because I have enough." Thus he urged him, and he took it.

[12] Then Esau said, "Let us journey on our way, and I will go before you."

My Christian response involves smiting...Plenty of discriminate smiting.

It's a work in progress.
