Dry Asparagus Racism

David Olander, a member of University City, Missouri’s Human Relations Commission, made headlines after confronting an employee at a grocery store in a black neighborhood
about whether a dry batch of asparagus represented racist hatred against black people. Olander noted that a batch of asparagus he’d seen at a store in a white neighborhood had been kept fully hydrated. This prompted the St. Louis Post-Dispatch to write what is possibly the most scorn-worthy headline of the year so far: “Dry asparagus prompts questions about racial discrimination in University City.” The Week That Perished - Taki's Magazine

Your Say

Were the white neighborhood poor they'd get dried asparagus.

I suspect it dried up because blacks don't buy asparagus, but if the store didn't stock it, cries of racism would ensue. Damned if you do and damned if you don't.

Who eats asparagus, anyway?

1. Sticks in your teeth.
2. Makes your pee smell funny---like asparagus.
3. Has stupid tips.

I suspect it was dessicated by Councilphudd Olander's fetid breath.

I grew up in University City. If anyone wants a date with a hot female former classmate (U. City HS. class of 1961) let me know. There may be substantial saggage.

And another crisis is created, because some smart-ass supervisor came along and said:

"The fiscal year ends on October first; why should your position be funded through the next fiscal year?"

It may have not been quite like that, I admit; yet....

I'm guessing that the 'grass was dry because nobody who works there could put down their phone and spray the veggies down.
