What joy! I can identify with every spool of thread in there, and the darning wool and ribbon. I still buy those little stamped aluminum needle threaders. My sewing box is a family history box, with sewing notions that belonged to my mother and my grandmother, too.

I also have a collection of wooden spooled threads.

Never thought of a painting honoring the past.

I think of men tailors as well as our mothers and grandmothers.

Good paintings often open a portal.
