"I almost joined the frenzy."

Yesterday I was going to write that Zimmerman pursued Martin against police instructions and illustrated the perils of racial profiling.

But I hadn’t followed the case in detail. So I sat down and watched the closing arguments: nearly seven hours of video in which the prosecution and defense went point by point through the evidence as it had been hashed out at the trial. Based on what I learned from the videos, I did some further reading. It turned out I had been wrong about many things. -- Trayvon Martin verdict: Racism, hate crimes prosecution, and other overreactions. - Slate Magazine

I agree with Peccable, Jewel and dr kill.
To paraphrase Bogart- of all the murder cases in all the USA, why did the media, DOJ, race hustlers have to walk no run into this one ?
In this self defense case, it doesn't matter what happened before Martin followed Zimmerman who was talking on his cell phone, back to his truck, spun him around, punched him in the nose, knocking him to ground, straddling him and punching him. As soon as Martin physically took it up a notch, what was Zimmerman allowed to do to defend himself. Did Martin dial 911 on the Cracka since he was afraid ?

He's still off base a bit, but at least he's closer.
