Going Warp: Bending Time and Space

awarper.jpg

To create a galactic version of the global village, bound together by planes and phones, you’d need to travel faster than light.
Contrary to popular belief, Einstein’s theory of relativity does not rule that out completely. According to the theory, space and time are elastic; what we perceive as the force of gravity is in fact the warping of space and time. In principle, you could warp space so severely that you’d shorten the distance you want to cross, like folding a rug to bring the two sides closer together. If so, you could cross any distance instantaneously. Roadmap to Alpha Centauri - Issue 3: In Transit - Nautilus

Let's do the time warp again!

To parody Michio Kaku: take 3 times the mass of the universe. Accelerate it to 4 times the speed of light. Compress it into 1/10th of a singularity and we will solve all problems.

OK, lemme see here ... if I go fast enough I'll get back before I leave. That right? Even if I leave early?

If you leave early, you'll be late.
