The Land without Muslims

Japanese companies seeking foreign workers specifically note that they are not interested in Muslim workers.
And any Muslim who does manage to enter Japan will find it very difficult to rent an apartment. Anywhere a Muslim lives, the neighbors become uneasy. Japan forbids the establishment of Islamic organizations, so setting up Islamic institutions such as mosques and schools is almost impossible. In Tokyo there is only one imam. -- The Jewish Press

Your Say

That's one imam too many.

See, the Japanese are smarter than we are.

If people would only read the Moslem guide book Koran it would be evident that the cult is destructive to human existence. Its own and those around it. Once was enough. The Japanese already went through Hell.

It sure would be interesting if someone brought a Federal suit to classify Islam as having the legal status of a cult. If I remember correctly, there is some checklist in U.S. Code which establishes whether a church is a church, or is liable some day to face a no-knock, crash the front door SWAT raid.

It will be a good day in America when islam enjoys the same reputation that communism enjoyed back in the 1950's. Until then we are losing ground.

Hate to tell you, but the Japanese aren't to thrilled with Americans either (white or black), also Euro's, Aussies..etc.
Koreans only as lower level workers.

They know that blocking all immigration is hurting them. Demographically they are on a death-spiral. But they would rather close thousands of grade and high schools and impose ruinous taxes to support their aging population than welcome younger (non-Nipponese) immigrants.

Xenophobic much?

Conservatives should ditch the Islam as cult theme. A cult suggests impermanence; a tiny group that bands together under an extreme belief system, generally as a result of adolescent rebelliousness or narcissism, and then implodes after a few years.

There's nothing impermanent about Islam. It's been around now for fifty generations, has 1.2 billion adherents and growing and dominates a contiguous area larger than North America. There are many negative things that can be said about Islam -- it's primitive, it's pre-rational, it's completely with the rest of the modern world. But it's obviously not a cult

Just another reason to like Japan. Yes, I know I'm a "gaijin" when I go there, and couldn't blend in if I wanted to, but the only problem I've ever had there was from a persistent Nigerian tout in Roponggi who refused to believe I didn't want to patronize his seedy, overpriced girlie bar. From the Japanese themselves, no problems at all.

Japanese xenophobia is no worse than I've seen in many other parts of Asia. The Japanese are just more honest about it. And I can't see where keeping out Muslims harms Japan in any way.

Xenophobic much? Absolutely! I can't see where our immigration and southern border program helps this country. We don't need more uneducated voters; we have too many now.

Melennie, agreed. Islam is a system of laws intertwined with a religion. It needs to be seen as a competing form of government, and as such, not subject to 1st-Amendment protection.

Well, lets just say that the Japanese aren't exactly the most welcoming and inclusive people on earth. In fact, they're some of the most virulently racist bigots on the planet, like most asians. Still, there's something to the shutting out Muslims thing; at least the ones who want to destroy America.

There is more honesty and plain truth to be found in a racist than in a multiculturalist, even if that is setting the bar low. Anyway, whatever superiority Japs appear to project is driven by the fact that they are and always have been insecure about being short and not terribly attractive.

I am surprised that they have not been far more dismissive of America considering our disgraceful and entirely voluntary decline. Perhaps they still have something now lacking in the West: gratitude.

Their decision to endure a shrinking and aging--temporarily--population is very, very well thought out. Any other approach, given the unique and limiting circumstances of Japan, would be disastrous, short and long term.
