"And what of the ubiquitous multiracial gaggle of friends?" [Bumped]

Although I have never witnessed any such group eating at McDonald’s I have often watched them hawking hamburgers. That isn’t to say I haven’t seen, or been a part of, meals with black or Asian friends. Elusive to me is the one black, one Asian, one white, and one “other” band of brothers stopping in for McNuggets. Yet to judge by television I am the only person in America whose friends are predominantly one color or another. Hopefully that doesn’t make me racist, but it evidently makes me unique. Its the college handbook effect. Every time there's a publicity photo or a cover of the class guides for a college they always carefully get a mix of racial and gender identities, with a minimal focus on white men, regardless of the actual ethic mix of the institution.

When I was in high school, over 30 years ago, my boyfriend and I had a black friend who was our third wheel. He was just one of us. Then, he went off to a university, and realized how racist we were, and downtrodden he was. I don't think I ever thought about color back then. Half my school was Hispanic, so we just found the kids we liked, not based on color or identity, and lived our lives. So sad. Everything the left touches...it ruins.

Brings to mind the war movies about WWII. The platoon with the farm boy, the Italian (2nd generation), the Southern hick, and the wise guy from Brooklyn.

The Brooklyn guys was always the Red Shirt guy.

Everything the left touches...it ruins.

Guys my age will recognize the truth of that in the destruction of their relationship with women 40 years ago.

When I was a little kid (1975), I noticed that some McDonalds commercials featured an all-black cast. The "white" ones were somewhat mixed, but the black ones were totally monolithic. Even as a kid I thought that was mildly interesting.

I thought of the traditional movie mixed cast too.

Obviously TV advertisements show society as the producers believe it ought to be, not as it is. Besides, it shields them from complaints by activists.

I never see young people dancing in the streets but they do in Target commercials.

Do ads feature disfigured and maimed people in wheelchairs? Yet we know there are unfortunate people with such afflictions.

I work for a multinational corporation in Peachtree City Ga. Some days for lunch the crew includes Vietnam, China, India, New York, Georgia (U.S.) Columbia, Panama, Mexico, Iran, Africa (born and raised there) and Brazil. It can be a lot of fun and yes we have a running joke calling each other racist. We all recognize tribalism and accept it as part of who we are. We also accept the fact that we can belong to our own tribe, and still respect and get along with people of other tribes. Two of the people on the list risked their lives and nearly died to get to this country. One nearly died in an open boat when the engine quit and the water ran out. The other spent nearly two decades walking from Iran and working his way across Europe to get here. Racism in this country is a disease, inoculated and cultured by the left to further their cause. The only reason we still face the amount of it that we do is because of the desire of the left to control everyone else.

Spent twenty years in US Navy as enlisted man. The messdeck was always a place where different races intermingled, similar to the McDonald's commercial. On amphibious ships with Marines onboard, now that is another story.

I spent a year and change on 'phibs.

High point of each port visit (important ports, mostly - Hong Kong, Singapore...) was The Talk presented by some earnest junior officer or sometimes by an actual embassy suit.

It all boiled down to "They might look different, try not to embarrass your country, yada, yada... Polite opinion among my embarked Marine peers was "Does this guy not see the faces in the crowd in front of him? Has he never shopped in LA on a weekend?"

I have never lived or worked in a more diverse community than the Marine Corps. There was some self segregating but by and large nothing like I see when I travel back east to visit the in laws now...

Destruction is the product of Leftism, not a byproduct or frequent tag-a-long. Once they have broken everything then man's inherent goodness will emerge onto the world. That is the fundamental view from The Enlightenment. All evil in the world, in their view, is due to some harm that was created by faulty institutions. Once the institutions (government, family, religion, culture, etc.) are destroyed man's goodness will flower.

They are going to make a better world even if they have to murder every human to do it. There are no nice liberals, some of them just don't have the job of crushing the rest of us so they can be polite from time to time.

It's beyond argument that per television advertising, around 90% of authority figures (judges, doctors, engineers, etc.) in the U.S. are persons of color. I can't figure out why the ones I encounter are usually White or Asian.
