Sarah Palin on Benghazi and the Washington Post

aadifference.jpg
"Is there any wonder why distrust of arrogant, out-of-touch media is at an all-time high?
During today’s Benghazi hearings, the Washington Post actually tweeted: “Who’s tweeting about Benghazi? Rich, middle-aged men and Chick-fil-A lovers.” This would be the same Washington Post that broke the story on Watergate. Now they just mock concerned Americans who want answers to why four brave Americans died, including two distinguished vets. And the Obama administration asks, “What does it matter?" --— Sarah Palin

Your Say

Even in the media, things are beginning to fluctuate. There are odd outcroppings of promise.

I watched the entire hearing (on CSPAN3), and then turned to the Internet and TV. I think that Kirsten Powers and Juan Williams made an interesting juxtaposition. Some people are moving into the light and some away from it into the shadows and darkness.

On O’Reilly, Kirsten Powers said that the hearing was important, and, (I quote her), “it was either a cover-up or incompetence”. She added that with the hearing today it’s looking more and more like a cover-up. She also brought up a few points that demonstrated she had listened and paid attention. Boy, are her eyes and ears—and mind—growing ever more open and alert! It’s getting exciting to watch her slowly working her way out of the fog.

Then I heard Juan Williams, on Hannity, comment that nothing important had been said. The incomparable Michelle Malkin twice accused Williams of not having even listened to the hearing, and, since twice he didn’t respond to the charge, I can only assume that he DIDN’T watch it.

I was surprised, because even if it is only because he’s a “talking head” on FOX, he should have listened and been ready to defend his point of view, even if it included the usual spin. Yet, all he did was criticize the hearing as political, and mouth a few of the clichés that he’s been saying for months. (If it turns out that he did watch the hearing, then this emptiness is even worse.)

And I wondered, how many on the Left didn’t even allow themselves to watch it? What does that say?

If Juan Williams, who gets paid to give his opinion, didn’t watch a hearing this controversial, or if he watched it and was oblivious to what was said, I can only conclude that he is developing a deliberate blindness that goes beyond mere talking points and spin, the way a vulnerable, squishy creature grows a shell in which to hide against the forces of Reality.

I think he now has a portrait hidden away on which his painted forehead, eyes, and ears are atrophying.
