Reminds me of the flap here in Atlanta a few months ago when the policeman didn't know, or care, who Tyler Perry was when he was stopped for an illegal turn. These celebrities don't appear to know that they are not universally known, adored, or given royal exemption from the law. When Perry's celebrity card was rejected, he used the race card - also rejected, but not before waving it around on tv for a few days.

It also reminds me of being at a gathering when someone shocked the room with a loud announcement of "Bernie Mac" having died. Following the sigh-in-unison, in the hushed room, I rudely asked: "Who is Bernie Mac?". You would have thought I had two heads with the sudden whiplash of necks aiming incredulous eyes at me, with half the room asking in chorus: "You don't know who Bernie Mac is?". Celebrity culture and worship is juvenile and disgusting, not to mention destroying America.

Why would anyone in particular know who Reese Whitherspoon is these days? She's in the "Whatever happened to ...?" category now. The high point of her career was her role in the Addam's Family movie.

Possibly the only guy on earth who could say "You know who the hell I am?" and not look like a petulant ass:

Hey now, be nice to Reese. Hubby didn't look drunk to me, and as she pointed out, "This is America, and I'm not doing anything wrong." I've met all kinds, but cops are almost all universally pricks.
