"When leftist tree huggers and leftist bicycle riders collide."

Activists stand by sequoia tree to be cut down | Portland Activists stood beside a 12-story sequoia tree Thursday morning that the city of Portland planned to cut down to make way for a pedestrian and bicycle greenway.

“If I come here tomorrow morning and that tree isn't there, I’m going to cry," said Chris Fountain.

Your Say

Uhh . . . can't the stupid bike path go AROUND the tree? I mean, we are talking about conveyances noted for weaving and threading dexterously through stalled motor vehicle traffic. Bureaucrats are boobs by nature.

A shit load of toothpicks, go for it!

I had some bozo in Vermont get unhinged because the paper agreed to the cutting down a 100 year old tree.

He claimed that you cannot replace a tree that age.

When I wrote sure you can, it only takes 100 years. he dissolved into a puddle of liquid poop. I know because he called the paper to rant.

100 years is young, for a sequoia, so age isn't any reason to save it. A better reason is that sequoias are beautiful trees. But really, I would have to see some photos of how the tree is situated vis-a-vis traffic lanes, etc, before I could make a reasoned decision.

I want to see Chis Fountain cry.

Crying is so helpful in these cases.
