Re. Bird Language: Love the narrative.
I spent a summer of my misspent youth fixing fences and digging trenches on the high planes of South Dakota. I guess you could call it Cowboying, for this day and age. I remember a verse or so of the Old Chisolm Trail that was sung by the old timers that went something like this. "I jumped for the saddle, the saddle wasn't there. I plunged twelve inches in the old grey mare. Come and tie my pecker to a tree, to a tree come and tie my pecker to a tree. ..... Ah!.. memories.
