The New Yorker, Yes, The New Yorker: Filling Up with Shit at an Alarming Rate
"One of the guns used to murder children and adults in Newtown, Connecticut, was an AR-15,
a semiautomatic rifle that’s similar to a weapon used in war by American troops. A weapon of war was turned on innocents at home. -- How the Ancient Greeks Viewed Weapons in The New Yorker by sub-moron Melissa Lake.

The Big Lie.
There was no AR-15 used in the Newtown shootings. The cops found a black rifle in the trunk of the murderer's car after he used two of his mother's poorly-secured handguns to commit his foul deed.
This is not only inaccurate and irresponsible "journalism," it's egregious propaganda.

The moron left out how the Greeks treated criminals(experiments and slavery) and crazy people(drive them into the wilderness).

@ David McKinnis- What a novel approach to behavior modification. Let us take the word of the World's first democracy and follow suit.

Yep. Drive 'em into the wilderness where they can compete with meth lab operators, marijuana growers, homeless campers, and raccoons....

This is really the key point -- one that the Greeks and the Founders fully believed in:
For a dramatic illustration of this point, consider the story of the lawmaker Charondas, of the Greek city of Catania, in Sicily. Charondas made a law against anyone entering the Assembly while carrying a weapon, but one day, having been out in the countryside fighting robbers, he returned and went straight into the Assembly without realizing that he still wore his dagger at his side. When he was accused of nullifying his own law, he made the ultimate sacrifice to uphold it: he drew the dagger and killed himself.
Laws apply equally. If the politicians want my guns "restricted", they have to give up theirs. The whole point of the article is that the guys with the guns make the rules even though the not-very-bright Lane argues against that. The police have to give up their guns. No more SWAT ninjas. No more Jack-Booted BATF-men armed raids. No more armed Secret Service agents around the elite. No more armed bodyguards for the bankers and the actors.
If you want equality and the rule of law then the law rules and applies to everyone especially the would-be tyrants who make the laws. Lane's too indoctrinated and saturated in her worldview to understand what she herself is proving.
