Coffee isn’t just black water.

7 Reasons Why Coffee Is Good For You | Popular Science

Speaking of coffee, you can buy Tim Horton's fine ground coffee from Amazon for the same price, or less, than I buy Dunkin' Donuts Original Blend at my local chain grocery store. I think the price is $6.99 for a 12 or 13 oz bag, or $17 for a 32.9 oz can. Brewing Tim Horton's at home isn't quite as good as the in-store coffee, but it's pretty darn good. Even when you make it strong it's never bitter.

You might also check out the Coffee Geeks web page. It's not haughty and grumpy like with wine snobs. Very helpful guys with good info.

Most consumer coffee makers don't get the water hot enough for maximum coffee flavor. Optimum flavor contribution happens at 200 deg. F. Most common household coffee makers have been "turned down" to 160 deg. F to reduce chances of accidental fire.

This is one reason why coffee from commercial equipment can make a better tasting brew. If you search hard enough you can find household a coffee maker that will get up to proper temp. The original Mr. Coffee, and it's clones did get plenty hot. But if they were left on too long, or in case of specific malfunction they would melt the plastic chassis, short-circuit and burn down your house. To prevent this the temps were lowered. I say good coffee is worth the slight risk of a house fire, but they may be my rebel side leaking out.
