School Resource Officers

bilde.jpg
A school resource officer watches hallway happenings at Centennial High School in Franklin.
School resource officers are law-enforcement officers who have been assigned full time to middle and high schools of Williamson County, Tenn., for many years. Other Tennessee counties' school systems have them, too. Understand that, as the photo shows, these officers are armed and always have been. This has been completely uncontroversial here. After all, aren't cops supposed to be armed? --Sense of Events: Guns in my town's schools

Your Say

In my home School District we have had School Resource Officers for years now, they are Sheriff Deputies. They are paid for out of the School Budget.

In Indiana the law is on the books.

In the unlikely event that government educators decide to arm themselves, we hope to God they shoot better than they teach.

Liberals don't want the armed school guards used. To do so proves that the "Gen Free Zones" premise is faulty on numerous levels from the gangbangers to the crazy soloist to pissed off students.

Apparently conservatives believe armed members of government should be patrolling our schools... you know... for the common good comrade. It is for the children's safety.
