When I was about to be introduced to my wife's oldest sister I was warned. "Do NOT," my then-girlfriend said, "say, 'You look just like Annette Funicello!'"
Well, she did look just like Annette -- only in a noticeably smaller cup, so to speak. There's only a couple of months difference in their ages as well. My mother-in-law and father-in-law raised some good-looking girls.

Yep. A dark, "ethnic" girl was White America's sweetheart in the "bad and racist" 1950's.
And we also enjoyed "The Cisco Kid," and "The Adventures of Zorro."
What a bunch of bigots we were.

Had a friend during that time who went missing. It was after dark when the parents located him.
When asked to explain, he said he loved Annette and was on his way to find her.
And what was it when that young cowboy took a bullet for that Mexican maiden Felina.
Or Van Morrison slipping and sliding in the grass with his brown eyed girl.
I once had a thing for Adrienne Barbeau. Think it was because she had a voluptuous pair of big brown eyes.
