I used to go in an out of Peshawar and surroundings in the early '60s. Even drove up the pass to Landi Kotal one time. It was dangerous as hell, even back then. You kept your head on a swivel and stayed ready to duck. Rule 1: never, ever set foot on tribal land. And, the world-at-large wasn't even aware of the place at that time. Heaven help the pinkies if they make it that far. (No, I wasn't a U2 driver.)
