I visited an exhibit of vintage and antique kimonos at the Art Institute of Chicago last year.

It was exquisite. The simple, timeless elegance of the designs were breathtaking.

Alas, since it was a special exhibit, I was not allowed to take photos.

"Japanese Modern" is a good graphic design book of 20th century pre-war design.
