The Rodeo Clown Media and their Crazed Bull

bullclown1.jpg

One of the primary functions of the Rodeo Clown Media (RCM) is to obsess over the periphery while systematically ignoring the center.
Sometimes it is unclear whether this is out of design or stupidity, but the result is the same: the trivial is elevated to the important while reality is banished to the sidelines. To receive one's news from the RCM is to beclown oneself by implication. We need also to bear in mind that a rodeo clown doesn't just run around arbitrarily. Rather, he is there to protect someone who is in danger by distracting and throwing off some crazed bull. Similarly, the RCM is there to protect Obama when he is endangered by distracting us and throwing out some crazed bull. -- More @ One Cʘsmos

Your Say

The RCM picks a media narrative and the conservatives tie themselves in knots trying to debunk the narrative until the RCM dispenses the next narrative. Not only are the conservatives stuck in Mayberry, they aren't even smart enough to avoid promoting the narrative of their opponent.

Never take the premise of the Left serious. Don't waste time deconstructing it, call it a lie told by liars to advance the Big Lie. In 10 seconds you denounce it and go on attack on your subject. I hope someday to see a conservative try this instead of the Bill O'Reilly, Sean Hannity, etc. circle jerk of trying to disprove the latest dishonest charge by the Left. Stop trying to change their minds and just defeat them. The remaining Leftists are immune from all of world history. Do you think explaining the Laffer Curve for the umpteenth time will change his mind? Once they are defeated it doesn't matter what they believe.

Conservatives are so GD cowardly and always play the away game, even in our own minds, I sometimes doubt we deserve to win an argument. This isn't the Nerd Olympics. People are deciding how poor you will be and we play their game.

Stop desperately trying to convince Christians, Jews, Atheists, and others not to start beheading people because of some stupid video on YouTube. None of those people are doing that or want to do that. Nobody gives an eff how you think Muslims should interpret the book of their death cult. They interpret and you are an animal to them. If all the Christians, Jews, others agreed on how Islam should be implemented it means nothing to Muslims, and consequently, you wasted your time getting the agreement.

Yep, lets keep the Neo-coloni distracted. Then, when there is a 'crisis' let reduced the free stuff and increase the restrictions.

The RCM is the only thing on the Radio when you are on the Superhighway to Serfdom.

I sure hope "Rodeo Clown Media", courtesy of Thomas Lifson at American Thinker, catches on.
I think "Mainstream Media" has sort of outlived its usefulness in terms of its descriptive power.
RCM is far more meaningful, as described by Gaghdad Bob in his post.

It should be as shameful to see the nightly news or read the NYT as going to a NAMBLA meeting. Even when conservatives spend a lifetime documenting the dishonesty of the media, they still consume it. WTF? Shame the eff out of anyone watching or admitting to knowing the RCM's daily message. Stop tuning into the Radio Hosts of Perpetual Outrage to see if they are outraged. When someone asks about the latest newsy event proudly claim you don't do trivia. Go get content. You need not know what happened RIGHT NOW. What possible difference would it make if you learned the unemployment numbers tomorrow rather than today? Why are you listening to hourly radio reports about how much money a movie earned last weekend? Why are you discussing Jessica Alba's statement?

The more you wait for news to come to you the less valuable it is. Go get the data and context for yourself. In the same 20 minutes of web surfing you can know ALL the Radio Host of Perpetual Outrage knows plus the context for the story. Watching the news to learn is like playing the lottery to support yourself. It's possible it could happen but it's so rare you are a fool to follow that plan.

Yeah, they think if they scream a lot about Romney and about how ambassadors get murdered because someone didn't like a YouTube video, we won't notice 0bama stumbling around stepping on his dick.
