and then they will grow truly fearsome. For the police, it will be a losing game of Whack-a-Mole, with riots breaking out and dispersing at a speed they cannot hope to match
. The violence will spread to previously unaffected cities as an awareness of law enforcement impotence is spread by television and social media. After a few days, the police forces will be exhausted and demoralized. As the violence intensifies and spreads, and in the absence of any viable security arrangements, supermarkets and other stores will not be restocked, leaving the MUYs even more desperate and angry than before. The increasing desperation born of worsening hunger will refuel the escalating spiral of violence. -- Bracken: When The Music Stops – How America’s Cities May Explode In Violence | Western Rifle Shooters Association

Don't think so. When the police have given up, the citizen will know there is finally nothing to stop him from doing the right thing. Which Koreans will have been doing all along.

Tocqueville-
The evil which one suffers patiently as inevitable seems insupportable as soon as the idea of escape from it is conceived. The mental habits which suit action do not always promote thought. The world is not directed by long and learned proofs. All its affairs are decided by the swift glance at a particular fact, the daily examination of the changing moods of the crowd, occasional moments of chance, and the skill to exploit them.

That was the conclusion of the whole piece, An. The only part he left out was the National Guard's role in this scenario.

Keep hoping that the people that won't speak up in class, union meetings, faculty lounge will become some sort of militia putting down the revolution. What you actually see is mass migration to gated communities and heated arguments about how much jail time rioters should receive for rioting and brave assertions that decent people know better than to riot.

Our leaders are a reflection of who we have become. We keep waiting for the cavalry to ride in and rescue us or stop them. Until we understand there is no cavalry to rescue us and do the job our self we will not be ready for more than flipping on the TV to see is Sean Hannity and Bill O'reilly are outraged and if they've managed to book Karl Rove for the 32nd time this month.

We already know who the problem children are. Look at the FBI statistics, who commits half of all murders, rapes, and robberies? Nearly all of this crime is committed by the males of the 12%, is it any wonder they make up most of the prison population? When the EBT ends they will beat on whatever is handy. That includes each other, anyone crazy enough to live around them, and the government employees who work there. And the rest of us have the means to keep them contained. And if they want to burn it that's just fine. A smaller government suits us.

This is a much more likely scenario than that horseshit posted in Small Wars Journal a month ago.

We had our Civil War because we never ultimately settled the issue of slavery. Until we settle the issue of liberty vs. socialism we are headed for either war or surrender. We can't keep picking Pomeranians in the primary elections and then decide he's going to be a Doberman simply because we now want a guard dog.

My point is that our majority don't matter because we don't act. My further point is that we always find a reason not to act even when last month's line in the sand is crossed. We just practice looking to some future election that will fix this problem or we just decide since things could get worse, what was intolerable is more tolerable.

You don't run a marathon by sitting on the couch and saving your energy. You run a marathon by practicing running. We just look over at some running shoes in the closet and and assume when the time comes we could run a marathon.

The Left took over big parts of this culture by fighting the small battles everywhere. We won't even argue unless we have near certainty that everyone nearby already agrees with us. We are practicing sitting on the couch. Until we start "fighting" all of the small battles, and learn some practical lessons and get confidence, we aren't even preparing to win the big battles later.

Scott, don't count on ANY republican congress critters growing a pair. When McConnell is tossed out of the Senate, that could be a sea change.

I wonder at those who blame McConnell. I'm as conservative as they come, and I've watched the political scene for decades. What have I missed? How did Mitch become a bad guy?

McConnell is responsible for doing NOTHING in the Senate. He's the party leader and until and unless the Dems start a fight or force an issue McConnell does nothing. For the Dems, the third assistant part-time observer of any committee sees it as his job to advance The Cause and assumes whatever power it takes to either force an issue or thwart his opponents. What did McConnell do last week of any note? He and the others in the GOP are like Abraham Lincoln's pathetic general McClellan. Timid, slow, and constantly finding reasons to not act but claiming if they had more force then we would see changes.

All it takes for the commielibs to make progress on their side is two commielibs in agreement. For the GOP no majority is big enough and it only takes one false accusation by the media for them to retreat or become hamstrung trying to disprove the accusation. Anybody can get results when everyone agrees with them, the GOP leaders won't use their power and claim once their numbers are increased they will. The truth is they won't act and they have proven to be feckless. The dottering old fool of Harry Reid is more effective for his side than McConnell. What have they done about Obama's illegal "recess appointments?"
