"Smell that mildew?"

If you've got it, you didn't get there on your own. Some sporulating mold did it, most likely Stachybotrys chartarum. There was a colony of that great American slime mold somewhere in your house.
Somebody helped to create this unbelievable American ecosystem that we have that allowed your sponge to becoming a thriving, pungent wad of suppurating microfungus. Government spending on cellulosic sponge producton was there. If you’ve got a moldy UnmbrellaSponge -- you didn’t build that. Somebody else made that happen. Sponge-based accessory storage technology didn’t get invented on its own. Government research created the Internet so that companies that build umbrella stands with sponges capable of hosting mold colonies could make money off the Internet.-- B Lewis on Side-Lines: Of Course. Why did it take so long?

Your Say

Just you wait 'til PETA finds out what you're doing to them poor defenseless sponges. Sponges will be in danger of extinction, Darwin notwithstanding, if enough people just like you keep exploiting 'em for your own wretched comforts.

Sponges have rights, too, and BTW I brake for sponges.

I'm gonna drop a dime soon's I get off this post. I hear there is a reward. So there.

Egzaactly! If the "you didn't get there on your own" comment can be applied to successful enterprises, then it damn sure better be applied to the failed ones, as well. That would mean every single failed enterprise could also be blamed on the federal government, right? And, as there are more failed enterprises than (or, should I say "before")there are successful ones, there is not better single reason for government to stay the hell out of our business.
