"It’s nothing personal. I just hate people like you."

"I can’t stand the people on your side. Not you, particularly. You’re fine. It’s your side that’s ruining everything great about this country.
Your side lies shamelessly. Your leaders just make things up. And you just follow them blindly, like sheep -- like blind sheep. You hang out with people who think just like you, and listen only to shows where you’ll hear your own views repeated. It’s an echo chamber of lies!" -- I’m Right, You’re Wrong and Other Political Truths - Bloomberg

"That is why the other side must not win..."

Ah, but which other side??

Posted by: leelu at August 24, 2012 10:17 AM

If you think this describes both sides equally, I figure you're probably on the other side.

Leelu, that was the point of the article.

Sherlock, if you don't see how similar the two parties are, you are probably an extremest for your side.

I guess I DID need a sarc tag...

Mike,

Yes, thank you, got it.

Guess I need an irony tag to complement Sherlock's sacrasm tag.

What we need is a duel; grenades at 20 paces.

What is it about Ramesh Ponnuru that you don't understand? He "is a senior editor for National Review, where he has covered national politics for 15 years."

Ponnuru is very conservative and he does not mince words here. He is talking to and about Liberals.

Don't give me any of that shit that both sides in the political debate are equally guilty of below the belt tactics. They are not and Ponnuru does not intimate otherwise.

Apropos Ponnuru's article: I just came back from the supermarket and observed this headline on the cover of Maclean's magazine (in Canada) about Romney:

"Yes He Can: How this gaffe-prone, flip-flopping, mega-rich elitist could still beat Obama.”

This example represents the liberal media's idea of fair comment exactly as Ponnuru described.

A Republican is someone who represents liberal positions which are two generations old, three when we are lucky. With Mitt, that may be only one generation, but since Obama represents liberal positions two generations into the future Mitt figures he has to run left just to keep in place as an establishment Republican. He wants to make things work, not make them stop.
