Comment of the Day: Progressive Child Abuse

John Fleming in a comment to Side-Lines: "What's so bad?...." notes:
There is a significant segment of our society that thinks it should be a secured right to perform cultural experiments upon your own children, that is to say, you are perfectly within your rights to ignore the broad consensus of what is considered to be successful and moral child-rearing, and provide an environment for your children that pleases yourselves. This societal segment even goes so far as to equate exercise of your rights with moral behavior. I offer as proof, the latter-day vociferous defense of same-gender couples raising children.
The choice these days of what is allowed to be visited upon the child, and what is beyond the pale, seems arbitrary, and definitely not always grounded in the duty of every parent to provide for a child's fair head start to life's race.
Do be unsparing, though, in truthfully documenting the results of such alternative behavior. For we learn by examples. Stories of success, and stories of heart-wrenching tragedy, keep us on the straight and narrow.
Everybody starts out with a passel of problems. Some people just get jerks for parents. To be human is to rise above the mud and create beauty. The jerks will get to explain themselves to St. Peter, and I reckon that conversation won't go very well.

Your Say

If that were not bad enough, they want to experiment on your children and mine as well. That's what the public schools are for. They would dearly love to be able to force all parents to send their children to the public indoctrination camps.

Some different gender couples abuse their kids, some same gender couples do not. The couple involved, regardless of composition, presents no guarantee of treatment.

I agree with Grizzly, and would go a little farther than Mr. John Fleming.

The problem is not so much that some benighted parents want to perform cultural experiments upon their own children.

By forcing the public schools to indulge them in their deviancy, as described in the New Duranty Times article linked in the sidelines feature that spawned this one, they want to perform cultural experiments on EVERYBODY'S children.

I do kinda wish a few of the neighborhood moms had insisted on abusing me with breast feeding until I was 12 or so.

We had that out here in California, VMan. State program. Started when one turned twelve, instead of ending.

Lucky me, I was able to take part before it went under the budget axe in the Deukmejian administration. There was talk about bringing it back, with volunteer college intern transsexuals, but the damn correctional officers union would not relax their pension demands, not even for that.

Seems it would be a little difficult for a normal size mommy to burp a twelve year old squirmy boy with a belly full of gas..

or would self-burping be required, with no over the shoulder back patting.

Rocky, all that back patting gets kinda kinky.
