Under Colorado law, defendants are not legally liable for their acts if their minds are so "diseased"
that they cannot distinguish between right and wrong. Sounds like they have one of the varieties of the M'Naughton defense, the model law version (IIRC - and it has been some time since law school and I don't want to look it up because it is almost 11pm, I am tired, and I am lazy.)
