The Big Life: Count Robert de La Rochefoucauld

En route to his execution in Auxerre, La Rochefoucauld made a break,
leaping from the back of the truck carrying him to his doom, and dodging the bullets fired by his two guards. Sprinting through the empty streets, he found himself in front of the Gestapo’s headquarters, where a chauffeur was pacing near a limousine bearing the swastika flag. Spotting the key in the ignition, La Rochefoucauld jumped in and roared off, following the Route Nationale past the prison he had left an hour earlier. He smashed through a roadblock before dumping the car and circling back towards Auxerre on foot under cover of night. -- Obit: Count Robert de La Rochefoucauld - Telegraph

Your Say

The man was serious about liberty.

Indeed he was. His memoir was entitled, "La Liberté c'est mon plaisir."

That limousine he sto . . . err . . .borrowed: as it one of those 6-wheeled Deusenbergs or Mercedes that the Little Corporal fancied? Unlike the Nazis who rode them, those were cool cars.

I saw a comment at another site that said, "And Hollywood can't seem to come up with any original ideas. That's about seven movies right there."

now that is badass

Rickl, they might be able to make that movie since he escaped the Nazis. Do you think they'd make it if he escaped from the KBG?

Does anyone know where I can get hold of his memoirs-in English?
