Serfs of Virtue

serf-1.jpg

Feudalism is back. Half the country expects you to work from planting to harvest, at which point they will take their share.
If there is not enough from the peasantry this year, the feudal Lords and their retainers will borrow it from future years. You get what is left over. They also expect that you will work the entire year, so the place will not fall apart. Unlike the Medieval days, you are not required to practice for war after the harvest is in. The Lords have plenty of retainers who will do what they're told. You are enslaved by your own virtue. They have you convinced there is no way out of this place, without betrayal of your own virtue. -- Posted by: John A. Fleming on What Is Required Is Political Compromise

Your Say

Back when Bush was president and at the beginning of Obama's administration we kept losing our freedoms and rights. Commenters on the blogs would say things such as, if we keep going like this people will begin to fight. I laughed and said no they wouldn't, no one is going to fight back. People would argue with me. People would say the tea-party was going to save us. We still are losing our freedoms and rights and no one is fighting back.

Exactly right Mike. One reason why the RINOs betray us so often and the commielibs insult us so blatently is because, no matter what happens, we make it clear it is safe to do so.

We make excuses for nominating wimps to fight on our behalf. We find comfort in loosing with honor rather than anger at falling for the same tricks over and over.

I'm not sure what people mean when they refer to Americans who are not "fighting back". What do they want people to do? I mean, what exactly? Shoot a cop or something? How is that going to help?

Seriously: what does "fighting back" mean in this context?

1981 I was crewmember onboard USS Belleau Wood. Ship rescued approx 40 Vietnamese boat people in S. China Sea. Those folks had true grit and guts to do that, truly choosing between the devil and the deep blue sea. They were but a small number rescued during that era, majority perished at sea. At this time, I think any American that were to "fight back" would be regarded as a fool by majority of their countrymen. We haven't been slapped hard enough yet. BTW, when they were brought into the well deck of Belleau Wood, never have I seen such joy on the face of a fellow human being.

"Fighting back". A point is reached where back-and-forth peaceful electoral politics no longer exists. One side seizes a permanent advantage, and becomes currupt. When the majority votes themselves money from the Treasury. If you're the minority putting money in the Treasury, working hard, pursuing your dreams, what're you gonna do? You're the field slave now, and there aren't very many abolitionists this time around. You can give up and join the house slaves. You can give up your ambitions and live modestly ("go Galt"), or you can pursue ... non-electoral redress. There's nowhere to run to (except Mars, but not soon enough), the world is drowning in collectivism.

Each virtuous person is out there alone, unable to determine if others wll join in mass action. Who wants to be first, and made an example of?

In the past, if the politicians caught wind of a brewing taxpayer's revolt, it straightened them out right quick. Milton Friedman mentioned that we do not want a system where we must choose the right people to make the right decisions, but a system where the wrong people are forced by necessity and against their druthers to make the right ones.

I think we are past that now. Look at the vicious reaction by the would-be Lords to the Tea Party these years past. The Novilords have made it clear, that a popular movement against their wishes, will now be met with overwhelming force. You are their slaves now, and they will not set you free.

(The Democratic Party: Slavery then, slavery now, slavery forever! The Republican Party: Well, since you're so insistent, we can't risk open conflict, so ... OK.)

They will shut the Internet down, Twitter, any Facebook page, where there are whispers of a tax rebellion. The Novilords have many retainers, they control the Law. The first person who acts will be silently crushed, then the next and next. The refuseniks and the samizdat never had any effect on the Gosudarst, which was all powerful until the end. All latter-day Thomas Paines will be silenced.

So what should you do? After you lose in November, you will have to wait, endure, and quietly prepare for the day that may never come, where enough people finally realize there is no path to the future, except through the fire of direct action. And that the Novilords and their ilk are finally weak enough in their dissolution to be overcome.

I should define virtue: you choose to work hard and honestly, pursue your ambitions without compromising your morals. If you have children, raise 'em right, make the necessary sacrifices on your part to give them a good start, as your parents once did for you (and be better than your parents if you can). Contribute something to the betterment of your community. Live a full life of duty, honor, productive effort. Save for the future, don't waste what you've got. Perform charitable works, be an example, for someday misfortune may come to you, and neighbors help each other. Be the person you would see in others. Don't be a moocher.

I humbly suggest you watch this video. "No, I will not comply, period."

It's always easier to go along, until it is too late. They will push you until you push back. The sooner you push back, and the more of us that push back, the sooner we turn this around. Quiet and cooperative are the things we can't afford anymore. Nobody is coming to rescue us. "They" won't suddenly realize we don't like things. They will keep pushing until they fear us.

Push back. Result: they put you in prison and give your little boy to Adam and Steve. Net damage to the Forces of Evil: zero. Net damage to you: total.

I fail to see the logic in this approach.

Push back follows the rule of hang together, or hang separately. The People pushed back once in Nov 2010. Now the novilords await the answer to their Nancy's question "Are you serious?"
