Degreed and in Need

The U.S. now has 115,000 janitors with college degrees, along with 83,000 bartenders, 80,000 heavy-duty truck drivers, and 323,000 waiters and waitresses. -- John Leo- The Daily Beast

Your Say

My brilliant cousin was sent through Harvard business school by General Motors in the '40s, then hired on as an accountant in Muncie, IN. He quickly grew tired of GM BS, and became a Prof at some U. in Omaha. He got sick of that after about 10 years, bought himself a big rig, and went on the road until his death 40 years later. He loved long-haul trucking.

Obviously, none of that crowd majored in something useful. Do you really think there's a physicist, engineer or chemist in the bunch?

Peccable - Heavy-duty truck drivers don't do anything useful? And, what good would be the work of physicists, engineers, chemists etc., if there weren't tradesmen to make useful products based on that work.

Peccable - Sorry, misread your comment. Thought you were saying they're not doing anything useful now. To the contrary, they now are, and that's undoubtedly why they have jobs.
