Anyone who believes in something for nothing

is already half on the road to being swindled.

Today millions, perhaps hundreds of millions of people have reached such a pitch of education that they can believe what Oh's wife in her simplicity could never credit; that there exists something for nothing. Amen. You can cheat an honest man but only if you lie to him about the goods he is buying. When my father was shorted in this way, he would shrug and say, "If he can live with it, I can live without it." We were taught that a deal is a deal and that getting fooled is sometimes the price for education. A slick may laugh, but he should know that he will only get to skin me once.
