Every living area had a container holding parts of MREs nobody wanted and were tossed there for use by somebody who might like a lot more of those little Tabasco bottles. I tried to collect discarded instant coffee packets and hot chocolate mix. Two coffees and a chocolate made a decent caffeine jolt.

In C rations I always drank my coffee black but kept the cream packets to put in the hot chocolate packs to give it some life. Oh, to have had some mini marshmallows, even if they were semi petrified. But poor dad, they had K rations...nothing in there edible but a semi sweet chocolate bar.

I can count the number of MREs with M&Ms I've had on one hand.

The best thing about MREs is the availability of Mountain House.
