Syria? Fergeddaboutit. Whack Iran.
The correct response to Syria is to neutralize Iran.By “neutralize,” I mean a campaign of air attacks and ground sabotage to destroy Iran’s nuclear weapons program and some other offensive capabilities. The way to deal with this Syrian dog is to beat up the dog's owner, namely Tehran. Washington's pathetic display of solicitude towards a terrorist regime that uses negotiations to buy time for nuclear weapons development aggravates every other problem in the region, Syria above all. -- Spengler

The opinions of Mssrs. Goldman and Rubin notwithstanding, let's recall that Iranians are not Arabs and, by most informed accounts, detest the present sixth century theocracy.
Reza Pahlavi may not have been a prize but he did introduce Western values to this Texas-sized nation, and those freedoms are missed. Not to mention that Russia has lusted for this strategic real estate since before the Romanovs.
Let's balance Neo-con passion with common sense.
