I've always found it ironic that NORML has spent decades trying to legalize pot while both Prohibition and the repeal of Prohibition took much much less time. I'm not saying pot makes you lazy, I'm typing "pot makes you lazy."
I'd support legalizing pot, except the last thing the world needs is more people doing nothing, eating, and comparing the solar system to an atom. Besisdes if pot were legal what would the libertarians spend 99.879% of their time arguing about?

For all practical purposes it is legal here in CA. The results are actually sort of a yawn. When weed is legal it becomes no more exciting than any other luxury. It falls to the status of beer or Sees candy. Go out for groceries and beer, stop by the dispensary, and pick up a little bud. Go to family gatherings- you see Grandma, and old uncle John pass a bowl in the living room just like other folks are drinking wine or soda.
I've seen folks get the munchies, but no one (in my acquaintance anyway) has had a pot buzz cause them to chow the face off some poor hobo. That stuff happens only with the over-the-counter, still legal drugs, like bath salts.

Hornady Manufacturing, Inc. already has a solution for that...Just so long as bed-wetting hoplophobes, fear-mongering nannies, tyranny-enacting mayors, and acid-dropping hippies re-legalize the 2nd Amendment right of self-defense so that the good citizens of the US of A can achieve parity with face-eating bath salters, prick-acting cokeheads, stereo-stealing methfreaks, and brownie-chomping stoners.

I've been rising early, and observing the homeless of downtown San Diego on my morning power walks. They all have weed. No, that other weed. Ubiquitously at the grotesquely taxed rate of whatever a cig costs in California these days. I saw four of them sitting together puffing away in the middle of the dry tinder under the eucalyptus trees in Balboa park yesterday, and wondered, how long will it take before they accidentally burn the hillside?
