"The Alinsky way is self-corrupting in the most direct way possible. "

Ends as means as a political program makes for something very much like Obama,
a moderate veneer over a leftist veneer over a mafia center. First fool the moderates, then fool the left and then make out like a bandit. In practice this means that there are some centrist policies on top, a deeper layer of leftist policies and everything below that is just grand theft government. -- Sultan Knish a blog by Daniel Greenfield

Your Say

People, like Obama, don't have to be extraordinarily devious or secretive because they have learned the dark secret of politics. People are so desperate for a leader they will participate in the deception.

Most Romney voters seem to first convince themselves Romney can win, and then decide everything in his background is proof of his suitability, including his flip-flops. As long as a candidate is smart enough to not make a public scene while telling you he will ruin you, the voters will do the heavy lifting for their own deception. GOP voters convinced themselves GWB was far more conservative than all of the warning signs indicated, and then they were angry GWB didn't rule as a conservative.

There are no facts and circumstances able to overcome a strong enough desire to see what is not there. As long as President Katrina doesn't admit to that his radical ideas and policies are radical the moderates and independents will never conclude they are radical. It's not influenced by all of the opposition to Obama. When video comes out of Obama doing something radical, any explanation Obama makes will become the only "reasonable" interpretation simply because Obama voters will not allow themselves to conclude they elected a radical. He could stomp puppies on stage at Carnegie Hall, on national TV, and then tell a willing audience he's an animal rights activist. As long as he never admits the awful truth, the true believers will believe.

Politicians have so many roll-masks, they need a program to insure which actor is due on stage and from which side to enter, Left or Right.

Otherwise, they will stomp that puppy during Sesame Street.

Scott M., I disagree with your generalizations, for the simple reason that you are lumping Obama in with prior presidents; and you also assume all Romney supporters are dumber than they really are.

1. Most politicians who are percieved by their conservative base to be too far left, will tack to the right while campaigning, and then tack back towards a more "pragmatic" middle while in office. W for example. The conservatives I know would have been a little less frustrated with him, if he had just grown a spine and fought back at the false and defamatory attacks made non-stop, 24/7. Some of us grew tired of defending the guy. Grow a pair and step up to the mike and TELL reporters than anyone who thinks "fire doesn't melt steel," is a misguided fool. Hell, Reagan tacked to the center a whole lot too....but we weren't mad at him. He took care of himself. W wore us out.
2. Clinton -- he too took the pragmatic approach and tacked more centrist once he was in office.

3. Some of us who support Romney are not deluding ourselves that he will be another Reagan, or that he is not another W "centrist." I support him because Obama is different than W, Clinton, Bush Senior, Reagan, Carter, Ford, Nixon. (See Sultan Knish). And so he MUST go.

And, A) Santorum does not have a snowball's chance in hell of beating Obama; if you think otherwise, you must also believe in Fairies B) Gingrich, besides being a lowlife scumbag, is EVERY BIT the Rino Romney is, and is also IMHO, an easier target for the Obama crowd.

You scare the 5% wishy washy "independent" swing vote, (that is what this whole contraception thing is really all about - there will be multiple tactics like this) and President Alinsky has free reign to wreak all sorts of havoc the next four years.

Yeah, Romney will be like Bush. No, he will not be like Obama. Romney, will be more susceptible to bend to pressure from Tea Party Conservatives, as opposed to Obama, who will literally and not just figuratively, flip them all the bird if he is re-elected. Think I exaggerate? Look how classless he and his wife act when they have to TRY to be likeable to get re-elected. What sort of mask will come off, when they are no longer under that pressure?

(From the article linked):

"But Alinsky offered a preemptive purge for the American left, it didn't take all the way, without the deluded idealist, the left would hardly exist, but he sharpened its predatory instincts."

I too, am an idealist. By being within that blinding light causes (sadly) a lack of awareness of certain shadows that are within all of us - thus the necessity of the cynical and the practical man (whom are better fitted to be the true leaders of a _secular_ state)

An idealist should follow no one but G-d (otherwise fall for the latest cult/politicalIdeaology/Scam/Racket) and neither should they lead, either, but instead serve, at best, as an advisory to those who are more fit to lead secularly - if the Secular Leader _chooses_ to listen and accept what is said.

SouthernJames, our frustration at GWB was precisely because we ignored who he really was, we ignored all the warning signs he was a moderate, and we foold ourselves that he was more conservative than we had any right to believe he was. His weakness in office, including his failure to defend good policy, was as predictable as Obama advancing ObamaCare. That was the point of calling himself a "compassionate conservative."

Whomever gets the most GOP delegates will, by definition have a chance against Obama. It's the weakness of the GOP voters, and their desire to short-circuit the fight, that leads them to declare before the first vote was cast Romney is electable. That will be this years version of Obama is smart, or Obama is a great speech maker. Everybody said it, there was no reason to believe it other than people were saying it.

GOP voters think if they pick the one guy that is currently not being savagely attacked by the commie-lib establishment then there won't be any savage attacks on him by the commie-lib establishment. They pick Romney because they are trying to avoid a fight. There will be a fight so you better pick a fighter. Romney hasn't even shown an ability to get a majority of GOP voters. He only wins when he outspends his opponent by 3-6:1. The moment Romney, or the GOP nominee, is chosen the commie-lib poop storm will begin and we will see Romney will have the connection with the working man that George H.W. Bush had plus the tone-deaf meadi strategy of the latter years of the GWB campaign.

If you elect a RINO you get a RINO. When Romney spends his White House years just treading water there will be another hole shot into the idea someone other than commie-libs should be in power. This is the GOP's contribution to the socialist ratchet. The commie-libs push for more socialism and the GOP baby sits the results until the commie-libs can come back to power. If anyone thinks Romney will swoop in like a Superman and force the DC commie-lib establishment to do things, they haven't been paying attention to how DC works.

It's not a government. It's a protection racket.

I see some of the posters here just don't get it. Biden made that statmeent as part of his pitch to get the Son of Stimulus (aka Americans Jobless II Act) passed. After all there are still a lot of Jackass Party cronies out there who can use the money in companies that will fail, and you can bet your literal bottom dollar that Joe and Barack want them to get that opportunity. And now you know hat they are talking about when they say America is the land of opportunity. All you are getting from Biden and Obama are glittering generalities, but when it comes time to specify spending cuts, where regulations are to be reduced or abolished, etc., their only answer is tax, tax, tax. Every piece of legislation is a tax. Every business regulation is a tax. Every political manipulation of the economy is a tax. Every tax increases costs and increased costs mean increased prices that we the consumer pay.
